About ClearWire
Is Clearwire as reliable as cable or dial-up?
Yes. With Clearwire, you’ll enjoy an always-on,
always-secure connection that never ties up your phone line.
How does Clearwire’s speed compare to DSL, cable and dial-up?
Clearwire lets you connect at broadband speeds of
up to 2.0Mbps. That’s up to 25 times faster than typical dial-up!
Is it easy to set up my own Clearwire service?
Yes! After you’ve chosen the Clearwire
service plan that’s right for you, you can set up Clearwire yourself
in just minutes. There’s no software to download and no technician
to wait for.
How secure is the connection? Is it more secure than Wi-Fi?
Your Clearwire connection is very secure.
That’s because Clearwire wireless technology uses OFDM transmission
protocol, featuring a design standard that includes secure wireless
data transmission. Wi-Fi operates on unlicensed 2.4GHz frequencies,
making it vulnerable to scanning and packet interception. Clearwire
operates at licensed 2.5GHz frequencies. Licensed frequencies and
OFDM make for a very secure connection.
How can I use my Clearwire connection in more than one place?
With Clearwire, you can connect to the
Internet in more than one location. Just plug in and jump online
anywhere within the Clearwire service area. You may also extend your
Clearwire service to multiple users throughout the house. The
Clearwire modem works with standard router and wireless access point
equipment to create a local area network.
If I share my Clearwire connection, can all computers be online
at the same time?
Using a router or wireless access point,
multiple users can be online at the same time with no slow-down
What if my computer is set up in one room but the wireless signal
is stronger in another?
No problem — with optional accessories, you
can set up the Clearwire modem anywhere in the house, regardless of
where your computer is located. You can also connect a wireless
router to the Clearwire modem and wirelessly connect your computer
to that device.
Is Clearwire mobile like a Wi-Fi connection?
Clearwire is portable like Wi-Fi. With
Clearwire, all you have to do is plug your Clearwire modem into an
outlet, and into your computer. Unlike a typical Wi-Fi hotspot there
are no additional access fees charged in order to use the service.
What issues could impact my ability to receive Clearwire
signals?
You must be within the Clearwire service
area to receive a Clearwire signal. It is possible to be within the
coverage area but not be able to receive a signal due to unusual
geography or to be within the coverage area but not adequately
receive signal due to unexpected circumstances.

from domestic customer service representatives who are available
around the clock. You can contact by phone:

What type of computer do I need?
Clearwire is compatible with PCs, Macs and Linux systems as
long as a RJ-45 Ethernet port is available.
How do I exchange the Clearwire modem if it stops functioning
properly?
A Clearwire Customer Care representative will be more than
happy to troubleshoot problems with you, or let you know how to
return your modem. You can reach support by sending an
online
support request or calling 1.888.CLEARWIRE (1.888.253.2794).
Can I buy a Clearwire modem rather than lease one?
Yes. You have a choice to purchase or lease the modem at
time of purchase.
How can I adjust the modem to receive the strongest signal
possible?
Once you have found the room with the strongest signal,
place the Clearwire modem in a location that is convenient for you.
Fine-tune your Clearwire modem by pointing the back of the modem
(the side without the logo) toward a window. Note the number of
lights that blink. Then rotate the Clearwire modem by turning it to
the left and right, slowly, until you identify the position with the
strongest signal.
Can I use my telephone or fax machine when I am online?
Yes. Clearwire technology uses a separate wireless
connection that leaves your phone line free. So, unlike dial-up, you
can be online without interfering with your telephone or fax usage.
